Where Are They Buying Their Bread?

3 p.m. local time (11 a.m. GMT)

People are joking around town that we shouldn't blame the Russians for raiding the food-processing plant as they must have worked up their appetites by swimming in the Rioni River. No-one has seen them in public eating sausages or salami yet.

And now, local farmers are complaining that they can't graze their cattle in the fields where the Russians have set up base.

In fact, unlike the first days of the occupation, the Russians haven't interacted with the locals. At first, they bought vodka and bread from stores in the town. But not any more. All the kiosk owners I spoke to said they haven't done any business with them in days.
