Where Is Your Honor?

Iran has severely restricted the ability of foreign media to report from Tehran, necessitating a greater reliance on the reports of citizen journalists and impassioned listeners. While every effort has been made to do so, RFE/RL cannot vouch for the accuracy or authenticity of user-generated content, which appears below in orange type.

E-mails and voicemails sent to RFE/RL's Radio Farda on June 23:

Last night, the disgusting television service of Iran, in its nightly news, exaggerated the displays of some of the protesters, and announced a telephone number, requesting the public to identify these people to the government immediately. That is, in fact, as if people want to sell themselves out in the most exposed possible manner.

To all Iranian nationals,
At 2:30 p.m., the Islamic republic news channel was discussing the Neda Sultan issue -- the innocent little Iranian child who was killed by them. May her soul rest in peace! I swear, the guilt will not let me be. They were even questioning the girl's piousness, her character. They were also debating about the people with whom she was present at the venue. They questioned the innocence of the girl. What's wrong with your honor, you Turks, Arabs, and Persians of Iran?

I want to let Neda know that she went where my son has already gone. My child, I hope that your blood isn't spilled for nothing. My son experienced the same fate.

With greetings, this is Elham from Mashhad. While I offer my condolences to all the families of the martyrs of the recent events, I want to announce that Mashhad as well has been witness to several killings of our beloved brothers and sisters and it still is and nothing is under control. Seven days have passed since the death of our engineer, Mr. Mostafa Ghanian; shot by the police forces that were unauthorized to shoot. The dead body of Mostafa along with several others whose names I am not aware of were not being handed over to their respective families. Mostafa's father had to pay a huge sum of money to the police in order to receive the dead body of his son, while the remaining bodies were not handed over. Many of our brothers and sisters in the hospital are in critical condition or a coma because of baton blows to the head. There have been harsh actions taken in Mashhad, the police along with the Basij demolish cars on their own. The martyr of Mashhad, Mostafa Ghanian, killed in the same way as Neda. I can only ask God to help us.

Ahmadinejad is now meddling in a trap that he set himself for the people, while he has to be aware that the complaints and rejection of the election fraud continue. What price are they ready to pay in order to stay in power? Is it going to be at the price of the rejection of Islamic policies? Is Mr. Khamenei aware that other than the killings on the streets, the civil police have also attacked the Imam's shrine and have beaten up a group of 12 people who had been on hunger strike for about 10 days? Mr. Khamenei, along with all those who support the crimes committed by Ahmadinejad, are solely responsible for the bloodshed and violence across the country.

I have a message to convey to Mr. Khamenei: Mr. Khamenei, keeping in mind the astronomical odds of the elections being cleaned up, and the votes earned by Mr. Musavi and Mr. Rezai are about 15 million, are these 15 million people chaotic supporters of Israel and counterrevolution?
