At Least 7 Killed In Kabul Suicide Bombings

At least seven people have been killed and 20 wounded in two suicide bombings in the Afghan capital.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks in the east and west of Kabul early on October 1.

Police in Kabul said both attacks targeted buses transporting Afghan army troops.

The attack in the west of the city, close to Kabul University, was the more serious of the two. It destroyed the army bus and shattered shop windows.

The fresh violence comes a day after officials from Afghanistan and the United States signed a deal allowing U.S. troops to stay in the country after the end of the year, filling a campaign promise by new President Ashraf Ghani.

The U.S. troops will train, advise, and aid Afghan security forces as they face a resurgent Taliban.
