Heavy Rain, Flash Floods, Leave More Than 20 Dead In Afghanistan

At least 22 people have been killed in Afghanistan as a result of flash floods.

The Afghan National Disaster Management Authority says torrential rainfall and hail caused floodwaters to race through low-lying areas in Kabul, Parwan, Kapisa, and Paktia provinces.

Six children were among those killed in the flooding, which also destroyed dozens of homes, a mosque, and large stretches of farmland.

The flooding came as many Afghans were visiting relatives for the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of Ramadan.

More than 60 people died last week in heavy flooding in eastern Afghanistan.
