Al-Qaeda's Iraqi branch has claimed responsibility for a wave of attacks that killed 56 people and injured more than 220 on the 10th anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion.
The Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) posted a statement on jihadist Internet forums saying, "What reached you on Tuesday is just the first drop of rain, and a first phase, for by God's will, after this we will have our revenge."
ISI is believed to be regaining strength, benefiting from the civil war in neighboring Syria, and has carried out dozens of high-profile attacks since the start of the year.
Meanwhile, Iraqi officials say a car bomb in eastern Baghdad killed two civilians and wounded four on March 20.
