Belarus Refining Firm Manager Arrested For Bribery

A deputy chairman of Belarus's leading oil-refining concern has been arrested for alleged bribe-taking.

Belarus's Investigative Committee said October 7 that the senior official of Belneftekhim, whose name was not made public, was arrested at his office while accepting part of a $19,000 bribe for arranging the refining of crude oil for an unknown party.

No other details were given.

Belneftekhim is also involved in oil transport and the production of chemical and plastic products.

It controls 30 percent of the country’s industrial facilities.
