MONDAY, January 24:

Armenia/Azerbaijan: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov hosts a meeting between his Armenian and Azerbaijani counterparts in Moscow.

Belarus: Situation in Belarus to be discussed during winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg.

Iraq: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres visits Baghdad.

PACE: Progress reports on Azerbaijan and Moldova are on the agenda of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) session in Strasbourg.

Pakistan/Russia: Security talks between Pakistan and Russia start in Islamabad (to January 25).

Russia/Tatarstan: The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars holds a discussion titled: "Kazan's New Spirit: Lasting Social Effects Of Tatarstan's Sovereignty Movement."

Ukraine: Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan makes an official visit to Kyiv (to January 25).

World: Human Rights Watch releases its annual review of human rights situations around the world.


TUESDAY, January 25:

Iraq: Thousands of pilgrims descend on Karbala for annual religious rituals that mark the seventh-century death of one of Shi'ite Muslims' most revered figures.

Kosovo: Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) holds a session on the inhuman treatment of people and illicit trafficking in human organs in Kosovo.

Russia: Russia's State Duma expected to hold its third and final vote on ratification of new START treaty.


WEDNESDAY, January 26:

Azerbaijan: Atlantic Council holds discussion on realizing gas from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz project.

EU: The role of Russian gas in Europe's energy future is on the agenda of the European Gas Conference in Vienna.

Russia/NATO: NATO-Russia Council meeting at ambassador level begins in Brussels.
