Georgia: NATO Parliamentary Assembly President Karl Lamers visits Tbilisi (to March 22).

Russia: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visits Egypt and Algeria (to March 22).

World: International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

World: International Day of Norouz.

TUESDAY, March 22:

Afghanistan: UN Security Council is expected to adopt a resolution on the UNAMA's mission in Afghanistan.

Georgia: Croatian parliament speaker Luka Bebic pays a visit to Tbilisi (to March 24).

Russia: Palestinian Authority President Mahmud Abbas visits Moscow, meets with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev (to March 24).

Russia: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visits Slovenia and Serbia (to March 23).

Russia/U.S.: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev meets with U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.

WEDNESDAY, March 23:

Kyrgyzstan: Trial of a brother of ousted Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev is expected to begin.

THURSDAY, March 24:

Kazakhstan: U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake travels to Astana (to March 25).

Russia: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev holds talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow.

Ukraine: Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych pays an official visit to Vietnam, Singapore, and Brunei (to March 31).

Iran: Tehran hosts Norouz Festival, attended by presidents of several neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan (to March 28).
