MONDAY, April 9:

Azerbaijan: GUAM Secretary-General Valery Chechelashvili visits Baku (to April 10).

Russia/Azerbaijan: Chairwoman of Russian Federation Council Valentina Matvienko visits Baku.

U.S./Russia: Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington hosts a discussion titled "Imperial Russia’s Criminal ‘Upperworld:’ Credit Fraud And The Limitations Of Respectability."


TUESDAY, April 10:

China/Russia/Kazakhstan: The Sino-Russo-Kazakh Oil and Gas Forum opens in Beijing (to April 13).

Georgia: A new hearing in the case of Konstantin Rodionov, who is charged with illegally entering Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia, to be held in Tbilisi.

Russia/Poland: The second anniversary of the Smolensk plane crash that left Polish President Lech Kaczynski and 95 others dead, to be commemorated in Poland and Russia.

Russia/Syria: Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem meets with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow


WEDNESDAY, April 11:

Armenia: A three-member PACE delegation to carry out a mission to Yerevan, ahead of the parliamentary elections in Armenia on May 6, to assess the electoral framework and campaign (to April 12).

Iran/Syria: UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan visits Tehran to discuss the situation in Syria.

Russia: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin gives his last major speech to parliament.

Russia: A six-member PACE delegation makes a post-electoral visit to Moscow following Russia’s Presidential election (to April 13).

U.S.: Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington hosts the Global Security Forum 2012.

U.S.: G8 Foreign Ministers meeting begins in Washington (to April 12).


THURSDAY, April 12:

China: The seventh meeting of the Security Council secretaries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which comprises China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, to be held in Beijing.

UN: International Day of Human Space Flight.

World: Global Security Forum on global challenges in Central Europe opens in Bratislava (April 14).


SATURDAY, April 14:

Czech Republic: Prague Writers' Festival opens.

Iran: A new round of talks between Iran and six world powers is expected to be held in Istanbul.
