At Least One Killed, Four Wounded In Latest Yemen Protests

Residents and medics say security forces have opened fire during clashes with antigovernment protesters in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden, killing at least one person and wounding four others.

Reports say the shooting started after protesters in Aden set up barricades and threw rocks at the troops in an effort to prevent tanks from rolling into the city's main street.

The information could not be independently confirmed.

Also today, tens of thousands are marching in the capital Sanaa and in other provinces to press for the ouster of President Ali Abdullah Saleh and his prosecution.

The protesters have rejected a proposal by Gulf Arab countries that for Saleh to transfer power to his deputy and be granted immunity from prosecution.
