A second deadly suicide attack has taken place in Afghanistan, with at least 17 people killed in two separate incidents on opposite sides of the country on April 10.
Reports from southern Afghanistan say eight police officers were killed and several others wounded in a suicide attack on a district police headquarters.
Officials said the policemen were killed when three suicide bombers tried to enter the police office in Musa Qala district of Helmand Province.
The security officers killed one of the attackers, who were on foot, but the other two blew themselves up.
Earlier, at least nine people were killed and some 20 injured in a suicide attack targeting a local government compound in Guzara district of the western Herat Province.
Police said the dead included both Afghan security officers and civilians.
Attacks in Herat Province are relatively rare, with insurgent killings more frequent in the south and east.
