Former Russian Officials Arrested For Alleged Links To Gambling

MOSCOW -- Two former Russian prosecutors have been arrested for their alleged involvement in illegal gambling in the Moscow region, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

Dmitry Urumov, former head of the Moscow Oblast Prosecutor Office's Directorate, and Vladimir Glebov, former prosecutor in the town of Noginsk, near Moscow, were detained by police on an order from Moscow's Basman district court issued on May 6.

Two other officials, former Moscow Oblast Deputy Prosecutor Aleksandr Ignatenko and former Klin town prosecutor Eduard Kaplun, are also wanted by police but their whereabouts are unknown.

Investigators say Ignatenko and Kaplun have also been involved in an illegal gambling business in the region.
