WASHINGTON -- The foreign ministers of the Group of Eight (G8) leading developed countries are meeting in Washington on April 11-12, ahead of next month's G8 meeting hosted by U.S. President Barack Obama at a presidential retreat outside Washington.

A State Department spokeswoman said topping the agenda will be the crisis in Syria, North Korean’s planned rocket launch, and this weekend’s upcoming talks in Istanbul between world leaders and Iran over its nuclear program.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said earlier that she planned to press Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Moscow's continued support of Damascus despite its failure earlier this week to uphold a UN peace agreement.
