Gunmen have killed at least seven passengers in an attack on a bus in Pakistan's southern Sindh Province.

More were injured and reportedly taken to a nearby hospital.

The bus was reportedly bound for the Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

Reports quoted police officials as giving different accounts on the bloodshed.

Some officials suggested separatists from the neighboring Balochistan Province may have carried out the attack, while others said it appeared to be an attempted robbery.

Pakistan is battling violence from Islamist insurgents in the northwest, as well as Baloch and other separatist movements.
