RFE/RL's Hossein Aryan Interviewed By Turkey's 6 News TV

Hossein Aryan, the Deputy Director of Radio Farda, RFE/RL's Iranian service, gave an interview to 6 News TV in Turkey on May 21, discussing recent diplomatic efforts by Turkey and Brazil to reach a deal concerning Iran's nuclear program.

Aryan said that while countries like Turkey and Brazil are playing a "positive, proactive role" in attempting to bring about a peaceful diplomatic resolution to the crisis, they will have a difficult time convincing skeptical nations that Iran can be trusted to uphold its side of the deal this time. "Because of Iran's [past] performance, the IAEA and P5+1 do not believe Iran, and say that Iran's program, especially its Arak heavy water plant and other activities, are not transparent and don't go well with Iran's [claim] that it wants to only use it for nuclear energy. To put it bluntly, they do not believe Iran, hence the problems after the deal."
