The United States has announced fresh sanctions against more than two dozen companies that Washington is accusing of involement in Iran's missile programs.
The U.S. Treasury Department said 24 of the firms have ties with the Iranian state-owned Islamic Republic Of Iran Shipping Lines, while two other companies are affiliated with the Aerospace Industries Organization, a subsidiary of Iran's Defense Ministry.
The Treasury Department said 20 of the sanctioned companies that have links to Islamic Republic Of Iran Shipping Lines have addresses in Hong Kong, while four have addresses in the British territory called the Isle Of Man.
The new sanctions, which are aimed at putting pressure on Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program, prohibit U.S. entities from having any transactions with the firms and seek to freeze assets that the companies may have in U.S. jurisdictions.
