Attacks Claim More Lives in Iraq

Iraqi officials say at least 11 people have been killed and many more injured in separate attacks.

A car bomb went off in a business district in eastern Baghdad, killing at least four people.

Two more car bombings in the center of the capital killed at least two people.

Two border police officers were also shot dead along the main Iraq-Jordan highway, while three police officers were killed in a suicide car bombing in the northern city of Mosul.

On May 29, 28 people were killed in attacks across the country.

Iraq has experienced a surge in attacks since the beginning of the year, deepening concerns about a renewal of the sectarian violence that killed thousands in 2006-07.

More than 500 people have been killed in May alone.

On May 28, the Iraqi cabinet announced a series of measures aimed at stemming the violence.
