Islamabad Challenges Ruling On Musharraf Travel Ban

Pakistan's government has appealed to the Supreme Court to overturn a decision to lift a travel ban on former military ruler Pervez Musharraf.

The appeal filed on June 14 requests the court not to allow the removal of Musharraf's name from the Exit Control List.

The move comes after a court in the southern city of Karachi ruled on June 12 that Musharraf's name be removed from the list.

Musharraf, 70, traveled to Karachi in April to undergo medical tests.

He has said he wants the travel ban lifted so he can visit his sick mother in Dubai.

Musharraf was indicted for treason in March over his imposition of emergency rule in 2007.

He is facing a series of other criminal cases dating back to his 1999-2008 rule.
