Japanese rescue teams have been searching for those who are missing following flooding caused by record rainfall.

More than 5,000 people have been cut off by landslides as a result of the flooding in southwestern Japan.

Local reports say military helicopters are being used to ship in emergency supplies to mountainous areas in the north of Kyushu Island.

Twenty people have reportedly died as a result of flooding on Kyushu, the main southern island of Japan.

Nearly a quarter of a million people have been ordered to evacuate their homes as heavy rains pound the area for a fourth day.
