Authorities in Kazakhstan say that three of its past Olympic athletes have been stripped of their medals because their samples failed retesting by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Kazakh Olympic Committee said on November 17 that weightlifter Irina Nekrasova was stripped of the silver medal she won in Beijing in 2008.

Fellow weightlifter Maria Grabovetskaya and wrestler Aset Mambetov lost their bronze medals from the same Olympics.

Weightlifters Vladimir Sedov and Maiya Maneza, who did not win medals, were also retroactively disqualified from the 2008 games.

Non-medal-winning weightlifter Almas Uteshov was disqualified from the 2012 Olympics in London.

Numerous Olympic athletes from Kazakhstan have already been disqualified as a result of the retesting campaign being carried out by the IOC.
