Latvian President Holds Talks With Tajik Counterpart In Dushanbe


Latvian President Andris Berzins held talks with his Tajik counterpart, Emomali Rahmon, during a visit to Dushanbe on June 10.

The two sides signed several documents, including an agreement on joint efforts to fight terrorism, organized crime, and drug trafficking, and another on joint cooperation in education, science, tourism, and border guarding.

Rahmon praised bilateral ties and described the talks as an "important step” toward strengthening "our long-term bilateral cooperation."

Berzins is scheduled to travel to Mongolia after wrapping up his two-day visit to Dushanbe on June 11.

In Mongolia, Berzins plans to hold talks with his Mongolian counterpart, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, and other top officials.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
