Madonna Hit With $10 Million Lawsuit Over Gay Support

Madonna's performance in St. Petersburg shocked some conservative activists.

Nine Russian antigay activists have filed a $10 million lawsuit against Madonna, claiming they were offended by the U.S. pop diva's support of homosexuals during her recent show in St. Petersburg.

The activists' lawyer said on August 20 that the lawsuit also targets the organizers of Madonna's show in St. Petersburg this month, as well as the concert hall.

A district court in St. Petersburg said it would decide by the end of the week whether to accept the lawsuit.

During her show in St. Petersburg, Madonna stripped to her bra to reveal the words "No Fear!" written on her back, and called on people to respect homosexual rights.

St. Petersburg earlier this year passed a citywide law imposing fines on people found guilty of "promoting homosexuality" to youths.
