Many Killed In South Pakistan Attack

At least 18 people were killed in a blast caused by a drive-by shooting in southern Pakistan's Baluchistan Province on November 2.

Gunmen opened fire on a van as it was parked in a makeshift petroleum station on the outskirts of the town of Khuzdar, some 250 kilometers from Quetta, igniting fuel drums that caused the explosion.

District police chief Sabih Uddin said all the people in the van were killed and that "eight women and two children were among the dead."

The region has many such makeshift stations, most selling petroleum smuggled from neighboring Iran.

Baluchistan is also experiencing violence connected to groups seeking independence from Pakistan.
