Moldova's Prosecutor-General Valeriu Zubco has temporarily stepped down while investigators examine his connection with the death of a businessman during a hunting trip.
Zubco announced the move on January 14 after he met with the Moldovan parliament speaker Marian Lupu.
Zubco was allegedly present during the shooting.
He has been facing heavy criticism for leaving Moldova after the businessman was killed on December 23.
Last week, Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat demanded that Zubco step down immediately to avoid suspicions that he might influence the investigation.
The prosecutor's office announced last week that appeals court judge Gheorghe Cretu, who was among 30 men on the hunting trip, is the main suspect in the case.
