The White House says U.S. President Barack Obama will travel to Colorado on July 22 to visit with families of victims of a cinema shooting rampage.

Police say the man suspected of killing 12 people and woundong 58 others at a cinema early on July 22 -- James Holmes -- is being held in solitary confinement "for his own protection."

Holmes is due to be formally charged on July 23.

Police in Colorado said on July 22 that there is no evidence Holmes had any accomplices.
The previous day, police used a bomb disposal robot to neutralize deadly booby traps at Holmes's apartment.

Holmes was taken into custody after the shootings at a premiere screening of a new Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises."
