Several hundred people have demonstrated in central Moscow against the continued detention of opposition leader Sergei Udaltsov.

There were no arrests reported during the unsanctioned rally on Pushkin Square, which took place amid a heavy police presence. Protesters chanted "Freedom for political prisoners."
Udaltsov, leader of the Left Front group, was detained at a rally protesting alleged fraud in December 4 parliamentary elections.

During his time in prison, he has gone on hunger strike and was hospitalized with his supporters voicing fears about his health.
