Drone Strike Targets Militants In Waziristan

Pakistani security officials say at least six people have been killed in a suspected U.S. drone strike in the country's tribal region bordering Afghanistan.

The strike late on February 8 took place in the village of Baabar Ghar in South Waziristan.

A security official said at least two of the dead were suspected Al-Qaeda operatives, including an explosives expert.

The attack came just a day after John Brennan, the White House candidate to head the CIA, defended the use of drone strikes against terrorists around the world.

Pakistan has voiced opposition to the drone strikes, saying they violate the country's sovereignty.

The latest strike came just hours after a top diplomat said Islamabad was holding talks with the United States to end the drone attacks, which sometimes also kill civilians.
