Polish Radio Show Taken Off Air After Comments On Ukrainian Women

A Polish radio station has removed a show from the airwaves after two journalists made remarks on Ukrainian women that have been denounced as vulgar and sexist.

The board of the Warsaw-based Eska Rock station has also apologized for the behavior of Michal Figurski and Kuba Wojewodzki.

The journalists had joked about sexually assaulting and abusing Ukrainian cleaning women after the Ukrainian team's 1-0 loss to England during the Euro 2012 football championship that is being cohosted by Poland and Ukraine.

Both journalists lost their jobs in the wake of the comments, and prosecutors are examining the case to decide whether to launch a criminal investigation.

The journalists could face up to three years in prison if convicted of insulting a person because of their race or nationality.
