Popular Kyrgyz TV Personality Found Dead

BISHKEK -- A popular television journalist and host in Kyrgyzstan has been found dead in suspicious circumstances in his apartment in Bishkek.

Police authorities in the capital said on November 14 that Bakyt Bukaev's body bearing signs of apparent torture was found by a friend late on the previous day.

The 44-year-old's body carried stab wounds and numerous burns, which could have been made by a lit cigarette.

Bishkek police say they have launched an investigation into Bukaev's death.

Bukaev was best known in Kyrgyzstan for hosting entertainment programs.
