Putin, Berlusconi Spend Weekend In Siberia

A spokesman for Vladimir Putin says the Russian president and former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi have spent the weekend together in Siberia.

Russian news agencies quoted Dmitry Peskov as saying on June 29 that Putin, 62, and Berlusconi, 78, spent the weekend in the Altai Republic at a vacation compound owned by the energy firm Gazprom Neft.

Media reported that the two watched a show of traditional Siberian dances in the republic's capital, Gorno-Altaisk, on June 26.

Putin and Berlusconi met briefly earlier this month when Putin visited Rome.

Berlusconi, a close friend of Putin's, has previously hosted the Russian president’s family at his villa on the Italian island of Sardinia.

Earlier this year, Berlusconi was acquitted of charges he paid an underage prostitute for sex and used his influence to cover it up.
