MOSCOW -- Some 20 activists held an action to support the feminist punk performance-art group Pussy Riot in Moscow on August 15.

The action was held in front of the Christ the Savior Cathedral.

The activists, wearing masks, held up big letters that spelled out: "Blessed are the merciful."

The cathedral's security officers tried to disperse the group. Scuffles were reported.

Police arrived at the scene later and detained four activists.

Three members of Pussy Riot -- Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina, and Yekaterina Samutsevich -- are on trial for staging a performance in February at the cathedral against President Vladimir Putin’s rule.

A verdict in their case is due on August 17.
