French President Nicolas Sarkozy has called Israel's Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu "a liar" in remarks to U.S. President Barack Obama overheard by journalists.
The comments made during a G20 summit in the French town of Cannes last week were reported by a French media website today, but a number of journalists confirmed they overheard the private conversation when it was inadvertently transmitted over a system used for translation.
Sarkozy told Obama that he "cannot bear [Netanyahu] anymore; he's a liar."
In comments translated in French, Obama said he had to deal daily with Netanyahu, even if Sarkozy was fed up with the Israeli leader.
