Skype Dads: Tajik Fathers Raising Kids From Afar

With few jobs available at home, more than a million Tajiks have gone to Russia to work as laborers. Most of them are men who have left their families behind in Tajikistan. But there are concerns about the negative social impact of this mass migration. The Tajik Ministry of Education has warned that daughters of migrant workers are more likely to drop out of school after grade nine. So sociologists are encouraging these distant dads to use Skype and cellphones to stay connected with their kids. (RFE/RL's Tajik Service)
