Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has signed a decree announcing 2014 the Year of Mass Football in the country.
Tajik Football Federation said on April 16 that the decree's aim is "to propagate a healthy life and mass sports" among population.
The Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism along with the Football Federation will implement the decree. The Federation's executive committee proposed to announce 2014 the Year of Mass Football in December.
In late March, the Year of Mass Football was unveiled by a football festival for children in Dushanbe, which was attended by the FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter.
Rahmon's eldest son, Rustam Emomali, has been running Tajikistan's Football Federation since 2012.
FIFA ranks the Tajik national soccer team 133rd in the world.
