Turkmen President Gurbanguli Berdymukhamedov continues a four-day visit to China today, attending the ceremonial opening of a pipeline delivering Turkmen gas to south China.
The 8,700-kilometer natural gas pipeline began operating in June, boosting growing ties between the two countries.
On November 23, China and Turkmenistan signed an agreement to increase Turkmen gas deliveries to China by 25 billion cubic meters a year.
That would take Turkmen annual gas shipments to China to 65 billion cubic meters, about half of China's gas needs.
The gas agreement was one of 14 signed following talks between Berdymukhamedov and Chinese President Hu Jintao.
