Fire Safety Engineer Of Moscow Printing House Where Fire Killed 17 Turns Himself In

The fire safety engineer of a Moscow printing house where 17 people were killed in a fire last month has turned himself in.

The Investigative Committee's Moscow Department said on September 13 that Anton Yatskov refused to accept the blame for the August 27 fire.

The printing house's director general Sergei Moskvin was arrested on September 6.

Both Moskvin and Yatskov were added to the federal wanted list in early September and charged with violations of fire-safety regulations.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russian authorities would conduct a thorough investigation and that all of those found to be responsible for the tragedy would be held accountable.

Three Russian citizens and 14 Kyrgyz migrant workers, all women and one of whom was pregnant, were killed in the blaze.

Based on reporting by TASS and Interfax

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
