TBILISI -- Georgian authorities have launched an investigation into a video that shows the country's former prime minister asking that "two corpses" be brought to him.

The video -- uploaded to the Internet on January 29 -- shows former Prime Minister and Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili giving instructions to military personnel in the field.

In the video, Merabishvili says to a group of soldiers: "I need two men. Two corpses. Bring me these two corpses. That's it."

Former President Mikheil Saakashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava, and former Justice Minister Zurab Adeishvili also appear.

The video is believed to have been shot in May 2009 after authorities uncovered what was said to be a mutinous plot in a unit of the Georgian Army.

Merabishvili has been under arrest since May 2013, charged with abuse of power, embezzlement, and covering up a murder.
