WATCH: Viktor Yanukovych's country residence is taken over by protesters

With embattled Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych now in the country's east, antigovernment protesters and media have been taking the opportunity to freely roam around his opulent residence outside Kyiv.

This article from 2012 describes Mezhyhirya as an extravagantly appointed residence situated in sprawling grounds that boast everything from a golf course to a private zoo.

Here are some of the pictures posted on social media on February 22 as hundreds of protesters flocked to the now unguarded compound to see what one dubbed "Yanukdisneyland" for themselves.

Some enjoyed a walk in the park...


... or had a game of golf.


Other visitors found the animals in the zoo somehow an appropriate choice for a president accused of using his office to amass vast wealth for himself and his cronies:



While others just had fun:


This tweet asks, "What do you need to be president? First off, a ship."


Another visitor found Yanukovych's garage to have quite an impressive collection of cars:


And even the presidential spa was no longer off limits:
