Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is due for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on October 22.

Kyiv has been seeking to renegotiate a 2009 agreement that it claims set exorbitant prices.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said earlier this month that the price for Russian gas could be significantly reduced, by around 60 percent, if Ukraine joined the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Custom Union with Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.
Ukraine is currently paying some $420 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas.
