Pakistan To Set Up Mandatory Vaccination Points For Travelers


Pakistani officials say they will set up polio-immunization points at its international airports after the World Health Organization (WHO) warned the disease has become a public-health emergency.

Pakistan's Health Ministry said mandatory immunization centers for travelers will be put at all airports, border crossings, and seaports.

Fifty-nine of the 74 reported cases of polio in the world this year have been in Pakistan.

A monitoring board set up by the UN calls Pakistan "a powder keg" that could result in the widespread transmission of polio.

The WHO said on May 5 the spread of polio could worsen and destroy nearly 30 years of work to eradicate the disease.

WHO Is particularly worried by outbreaks in at least 10 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
