Jordan has defeated Uzbekistan in football in a World Cup Asia zone playoff to advance to a decisive qualification tie.
The second leg of the two-game home-and-away playoff ended all square at 1-1 by the the end of regular play in Tashkent.
With the score fixed at 2-2 on aggregate, this resulted in extra time, which was delayed for 15 minutes when the floodlights at the stadium in Uzbek capital went out.
With the game still tied after overtime, Jordan won the subsequent penalty shoot-out 9-8 to progress.
The Jordanians must now face the fifth-placed team from the South American qualifiers over two legs on November 15 and 19.
Currently Uruguay is in fifth place in the South American standings.
Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Iran have already qualified from the Asia zone.
