"This Site Is Blocked in Uzbekistan." In an act of Internet solidarity, several Central Asian websites are "stamping" their websites with a special emblem that contains those words.

The protest action is in response to the increasingly restricted access in Uzbekistan to independent websites. Websites such as,, and the homepage of RFE/RL's Uzbek Service have been blocked for years.

The Paris-based media watchdog Reporters Without Borders lists Uzbekistan -- along with Myanmar, North Korea, and Turkmenistan -- on its list of the world's greatest "Internet Enemies."
