In Egypt, thousands of protesters demonstrated in cities across the country, and clashes erupted with police who tried to disperse demonstrators with rubber bullets, water cannons, and tear gas.
In Gaza, thousands of Palestinians, some firing rifles into the air, burned the Danish flag in another protest against the cartoons' publication.
Some 3,000 protesters marched through Malaysia's largest city, Kuala Lumpur, to protest before the Danish Embassy.
In Pakistan, some 5,000 people protested in Islamabad.
In Bangladesh, more than 5,000 Muslims demonstrated in Dhaka.
Norwegian Editor Apologizes
In Kyrgyzstan, some 600 people held a protest rally in the southern city of Jalalabad. Earlier, in Bishkek, about 50 protesters gathered around the French Embassy for a brief demonstration.
Meanwhile, the editor of a Norwegian magazine that was among the first to reprint the cartoons formally apologized to Muslims today.
Vebjoern Selbekk, who initially defended reprinting the Danish cartoons in his "Magazinet" publication, said he had not understood how hurtful the move had been to Muslims.
