The comment was made in Salzburg by Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik, whose country currently holds the EU presidency.
She was speaking on March 11 after a meeting of EU foreign ministers and their counterparts from the Balkans during which delegates heard the news of the former Yugoslav president's death in a prison cell near the UN tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands. Milosevic was on trial facing 66 charges, including genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes committed during the Balkan wars of the 1990s.
