Abkhazia, South Ossetia Agree On Defense Cooperation

April 28, 2006 -- Abkhazia and South Ossetia today ratified a September 2005 treaty aimed at strengthening ties between the two separatist Georgian republics.

The treaty envisages defense cooperation between the two republics, but the South Ossetian leader, Eduard Kokoity, said it is not directed against Georgia.
