May 29, 2006 -- Defense witnesses argued in a Baghdad court today that Saddam Hussein's regime was justified executing 148 people for their alleged roles in an assassination attempt on the former Iraqi president in 1982.
The defense argued that the condemned received a fair trial.
The court heard a series of defense witnesses testifying on behalf of Hussein.
