June 7, 2006 -- Georgia's parliamentary speaker has urged lawmakers to avoid anti-Russian rhetoric in the run-up to a meeting of the two countries' presidents.

Nino Burjanadze told parliament on June 6 that Russian-Georgian relations are strained but there is a hope that President Mikheil Saakashvili's visit to St. Petersburg for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 13 could "bring a positive element."
