Uzbek Court Closes Another U.S. NGO

June 8, 2006 -- A court in Tashkent today ordered the closure of another U.S. nongovernmental organization.

Local representatives of the Global Involvement Through Education group were found guilty of attempting to convert Muslim and Christian Orthodox youths to Protestantism.

Uzbek authorities have secured the closure of several U.S. NGOs on various charges in recent weeks.
