July 16, 2006 -- Russian police today arrested about 30 self-professed anarchists who briefly demonstrated against the Group of Eight (G8) summit in St. Petersburg.

Police hauled away the protesters during a rally in front of the SAS Radisson Hotel on the city's main thoroughfare.

The Kremlin, determined to contain demonstrations during the summit, has allowed protesters to gather only at the Kirov Stadium, about 15 kilometers from the city center.
