Khatami Meets With Annan At Close Of U.S. Tour

September 13, 2006 -- Former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami has met with United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan in New York near the close of Khatami's visit to the United States.

A UN spokesman said that during the private meeting at UN headquarters on September 12, Annan urged Khatami to help promote further dialogue between Iran and the United States.

Khatami visited five U.S. cities in the most extensive U.S. tour by a senior Iranian since Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution.
